  • This “Holy” Week

I wrote this to a friend, and then it dawned on me I should post it here.

Some people call this “holy week”.  I know it’s important to celebrate and appreciate the death and resurrection of our Lord.  But I have trouble making a “big deal’ of the “one day”, because in my mind it should be a big deal every day.  Please don’t get me wrong, I  LOVE Easter and what it means.  I just think that to celebrate and remember the Resurrection once a year isn’t enough.

Scripture draws an analogy between what the high priest of olden days did once a year on what is now Yom Kippur, to go into the Holy of Holies once a year and sprinkle blood on the Mercy Seat to atone for the sins of the people, and what Christ did, entering the “holy place” once and for all with His shed blood in hand, as it were,  to give US access to the very throne of God in prayer.

That His sacrifice is what makes us the “adopted” sons of God; we are justified by His death and saved by His life.  That His resurrection is what makes our future going to Heaven possible.

I think about this all year long… and am so grateful for it.  That Christ’s “intercession” for us, and the Holy Spirit’s coming because He went to heaven, make it possible for me to have a parent-child relationship with the Owner of the universe.

I just thought I’d write and wish you all a very blessed, happy, spiritual week this week and really, always.  I see many of you as being very spiritually minded, so I know this all means something to you.

    God bless,
    Gerrie

  • Oh Yippie!!! I finally found someone who is like me. I have trouble too…celebrating “the day”. I have trouble “getting in the mood” because I see it like you do. Everyday is worth a celebration of sorts. I was thinking of that scripture yesterday about some make special days and others don’t. If I find it, I’ll post it on my Lamentations site.  We are friends here. My first post on this site tells the why of why I made it…the rest of the posts are very self explanitory. All I ask is that people pray for what they read. God bless~~janet

  • Amen, Gerrie! I think about it a lot, too! God’s love for us is so much more than we can comprehend!! Praise God!  Love you! ~ Chris

  • I’m so glad it dawned on you to post it here, Gerrie…yes, we DO need to remember this every day of the year.

As a Messianic Jew, I do remember this.  Every day, every time I become aware that I’ve blown it again.  Steeped as my people are in the history of needing a human intercessor, of the need to present sacrifices large and small for any transgression or uncleanness… how thankful I am for the gift of Grace.  On that black day, the curtain to the Holy of Holies was TORN!  “It is finished”–the work He came to earth to accomplish!  The demolition of the barrier between man and God.  Freely now, we can ask forgiveness, and freely, His love and grace surround us.  Divine mystery–glorious gift.  Every single minute, every single day.  Baruch HaShem….blessed be His Name.

  • Yepper, I agree with you Gerrie. It’s a part of my life to be reminded daily of what Jesus has done for us. Its is good to see that many people do think on it for a whole week, for many of them hardly give it a thought through out the year…sadly………hopefully it will touch more of them in a unique way this year and bring them to the Lord! Have a great weekend!

  • That scripture is Romans 14:5 In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable

  • RYC: No, it’s not silly. That Galveston song was going through my head a lot yesterday, so I had to find it on YouTube to satisfy my wanting to hear it!  LOL  So if it’s silly, then we’re both silly! We’re having a wonderful time. Just Paul and I, you know.  ;)

    Love ya!

    Chris

  • Amen, you are so right, we need to remember His incredible love for us all the time.

  • Yes it does sound like they new a long time…but finally getting word out to the public and documenting it for other doctors who might not even consider the possiblity is great news. I think reducing stress can recover the heart. How one goes about doing that in certain situations, I’m not sure. But I know when I FIRST heard about this, there was a woman talking about it with her doctor. The doctor said that this woman made a full recovery when time passed by and she began living a new life without her husband. I believe if stress can be avoided, the body can and does heal. The clincher is getting rid of stress in situations that are just unbelievable. Well, hope the sun is shining bright in your neck of the woods. It’s beautiful here, except it’s cold. BUT…in just a short time, the warm weather will be here. God bless your Sunday.

  • Hi Gerrie,

Yes, we did have a great time, maybe we will get to see you next year!!

    Blessings to you,

    Mike
