Twelve Days of Christmas Mystery
It started last week. Someone left a wrapped gift at our front door with a round tag labeled “1st Day of Christmas”. The next evening another gift came, a round tag labeled “2″ attached to it. The third day another, with a tag marked “3″. At first the gifts arrived around 7:30 in the evening. We’ve asked around among friends and family and nobody is admitting to it. Tonight number “10″ came.
There have been children’s books, kitchen towels,a potted poinsettia, a calendar, a couple of stuffed animals, tonight a tin of those good butter cookies, all kinds of things, seemingly meant for adults OR children. But no tag with a “from”.
Last night the person actually rang the doorbell, but by the time I got to the door (and I hurried!), all I saw was an unfamiliar car driving away. Tonight I tried to time it so I could see who, but wouldn’t you know I was “indisposed” when the person came.
We have no idea who it is or why. My daughter has been simply piling them up on a chair. I think she’s a little unsettled by it. She said she doesn’t want to use any of the gifts. I think it’s kind of fun to see what happens the next night.
Of course there will be only two more, tomorrow and Monday. I hope with number 12 comes a note or tag telling us who it’s been! Gives a whole new meaning to the term “Secret Santa.”
I’m so happy to get two weeks off! Friday was the last day of school for us, and it was a half-day. Funny how relaxing it is just to know I don’t have to go to work on Monday… of course I do need to use the time for some planning, and my online college class is NOT taking a break. But then the wildness starts again with lesson plans and gathering materials… but I’m so thankful for this job the Lord worked a miracle for me to get.
If I don’t get to write again before, merry Christmas to all!
Love to all,
Gerrie

(oh..the twins were born early the morning of the 19th…just a few hours sooner, and they’d have shared Noelle’s “Fecha de Nacimiento” [did I get that right?] )
That is a kewl way to leave those gifts, 12 days of Christmas!! That would be fun! I’m looking forward in “who” the person is, hope you get to find out! lol
MERRY CHRISTMAS GERRIE!
That sounds like a great idea. Sounds like someone just wants to bless you without you knowing them. Just accept it and thank the Lord for them. They are probably having a blast doing that. And to respond to your comment. I am very sorry about what you went through. Our situtaion with our older daughter (not son..lol) is quite different. She was raise, like your kids, in church. My husband is the kindest, gentlest man I know. He’s patient and very wise. His discernment has amazed me over the years. And when she began having troubles we both dove into her life even more than we were in the first place. Our story is really quite long and we’ve been through SO much. I’ve shared over the past two years, some of the things we’ve been through so I really don’t want to drag that up again. I know in time God will place me where He wants me to be. And I know how to feed myself, I have good friends who’ve come along side of us who love the Lord as well. I’ve sure not giving my life in Christ away and never will. I know the story of the Prodigal well. In fact our older daughter once said some years back as we were studying it that she saw herself as the prodigal son and my younger daughter said she saw herself in the brother who stayed behind. So…guess they were prophesying even then because that’s exactly how their lives seem now. One is gone, the other has stayed and we have gotten SO close with her. I often wonder what the reunion would be like if it were to ever come about. That’s a fear I have to put in God’s hands because I fear that the pain inflicted might hinder what God would like to accomplish. It’s not a concern with my own heart. I’d welcome my daughter with wide open arms. In fact, they’d probably fall off I’d open them so wide. It’s the others who’ve stood by my husbands and my side, watching us suffer through this ordeal that I worry about ruining any type of reconcilliations. But, the Lord knows that too and I’m sure He’ll cover everything. I pray for your family. I pray for your kids. It’s so hard when they have seen things that lead them away from the Lord. It’s hard for kids to see that God’s just SO NOT like humans. That’s the main thing I am SO greatful to God for. Letting me see that none of this is from HIS hands. It’s human generated pain. Yet, He can shine through that too. He can take it and use it for His good. We’ve sure seen that in our relationship with our younger daughter, and our relationship with others too. And He’s used it on here as well….to help others through our pain. God bless you and have a great Christmas. Looks like someone out there is helping you do just that.
I love the Secret Santa idea! What fun…and what a neat way to remind someone that you’re thinking about them and care about them.
God’s richest blessings on you and your family this Christmas, my dear friend! Merry, merry Christmas.
That’s really neat! Tell us if you find out who it was! Merry Christmas, Gerrie! Love, Chris
Oh no,Gerrie,I did not at all think that you were mocking me.
I was just writing about was on my mind.
I really do appreciate everything that you
say. Please always tell me what you feel.
I really enjoy when someone stands for what
they believe in.I actually seek that from everyone.
I promise that if I need to say more,I will come to you and discuss
it with you.
I am happy that you show up in my posts!!
Love.
What a great idea let us know if you fine out who santa was, you are getting such a blessing from this and they in return are also getting bless.
have a Merry Christmas,
sandy
sounds cute. Sorry yout daughter has the adverse reaction…not wanting to use them. but it is cute. I think God wants to give you MANY things……Have a Merry Christmas.
I’m impressed. And I wish I had thought of it. I’ve done that with my wife — 12 days of Christmas, each day with the right number of things — but to do that with some other family is impressive. I’d think it would get harder and harder to sneak up to the house! God bless them for blessing you!
And a Merry Christmas to you, friend. You are a dear sister and I pray God’s deep and lasting blessings for you in the coming year, however they may come wrapped!
Hi Gerrie,
I love that idea and I’m like you sure would be fun to see what shows up the next night. How fun! I might have to drive some one crazy sometime by doing the same thing.
There is a college age deaf girl at our church and she sang yesterday using her hands and it always touches me deep in the heart what a beautiful way to communicate. I think of you every time!
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Love ya, Darlena
