  • Back to college

It’s the third week of school where I teach, and next Tuesday is “Back to School Night.”

For me personally, it’s the second week of school at Azusa Pacfic University, in Azusa California.  I have 5 more classes to take toward my clear (permanent) special ed credential, 3 of which I’ll take at APU. I also have one more class and a test to pass so I can get my single subject credential for teaching American Sign Language at the high school where I work.

Right now I’m taking the first of the 3, as an online course.  I signed up for the course the first day of school, and it took me till the following Monday to figure out how to get into the online learning site!  My textbook will arrive tomorrow.  So the trek begins:)

I like learning.  I like school.  I get good grades.  But I’m certainly looking forward to being FINISHED!!!!

Love to all and thank you for prayers,
    Gerrie

  • Hi Gerrie,

Glad that your on the way to getting the credentials you need to do the job you want. I can’t imagine going back to school. Greg’s brother has never quit going to school but he said that he loves the learning process.

Hope that you have a beautiful weekend.

    Love ya, Darlena

  • WOW your kept busy with all that schooling, teaching stuff!! Its great that you enjoy it all makes it more pleasurable! Thinking of you,

    Have a good weekend!

  • And I’ll tell you what I appreciate about your ongoing educational pursuit is that you are doggedly following this goal despite the long hours and even more because: you’re footing the bill. As all educational insiders know, when you’re employed by a school district, they pick up the cost. But for those of you who are trying to better yourselves outside the system, it’s out of your pocket. Alison got her graduate degree on her own, took six years to finish, and no school district helped us out.

    So kudos to you!

  • I like learning.  I like school.  I get good grades.  – Me too… but I hope that I truly am finished! {{hugs}} ~ me

  • ryc: chicken pot pie is easy as… well, pie. Get this: make or buy a pie crust, then the filling is just a can of cream soup (chicken, mushroom, celery, whatever); a cup or so of chopped, cooked chicken; a bag of frozen veggies, cooked. I add some diced potatoes, but you don’t have to. I also thin the mixture a bit with some milk to make it a little creamier. Put the top on, vent it, and bake it at 350 degrees for an hour. It’s really not hard. My kids love it. Well, my younger kids love it. Nathan has a thing against pies; not sure why.

Sorry about your sleeplessness. It is hard to work some things out of the body.

  • *ryc….when we’er out on the job like that & we get a break, i just fish for fun when i can…catch & release only…   ;]

    hava great weekend…ttyl

  • Hey Gerrie…

Ruth says to tell you that as a teacher, you will never be finished going to school until you retire :) She just completed a graduate level endorsement in ESL through Marshall University via Online. She is glad she is through. I have been trying to convince here to go back and get another Masters in Speech Therapy.. but she is not convinced (lol). Anyway, just wanted to say hello and let you know we are still praying. Thanks for the comments too.. I am on my way out the door to meet with our Chaplaincy Candidates..

    Be blessed,

    Phil

  • ryc: Thank you for the reminder. I needed that. :)

  • Hi Gerrie,

I see Pastor Phil is working on his cabinet….good choice!!  Glad you like school, hope you do well and learn alot….Have a blessed day in his Presence…..Mike

  • Gerrie, I admire you so much for going back to school. My sister is also doing that, driving a long way at night after work to get her master’s….it makes me tired to think about it. Good for you. God bless you as you continue down this road, with a clear goal in sight.

  • Hi there, saw you on Gail’s site. Wanted to come by and say hello…praying for you. And I read that you are taking some online classes. How well does that work? Is it like a classroom on your computer or just written instructions. I was considering doing some courses but didn’t know if I would “get it” or not. I like to be in the classroom, ask questions from the teacher if I need to…and at my age (49 in Dec) I’m sure I’ll have to have some extra help. God bless the rest of your week.
