  • Attempting real poetry

Ok, there’s so  much poetry floating around our community here, I just had to try.  I used to write poetry a bit when I was a kid and then less through my adulthood, but haven’t written in a very long time.  But this one just sorta came into my head.

    The Powers That Be

    Powers

    Surging through me, carrying me

    To vistas of beauty,

    To darkness and uncertainty.

    Oh Holy Spirit, uplift.

    Powers

    Surging through me, carrying me

    To deeds of goodness,

    To deeds of shame.

    Oh Holy Spirit, overcome.

    Power

    Surging through me, carrying me

    To the glassy sea,

To the ends of the earth.

    Oh Holy Spirit, increase.

    Power

    Surging through me, carrying me

    To build up,

    To heal.

    Oh Holy Spirit, flow.

  • ohhh wow! this is soo touching! i love it. i like the part about surging through me and on especially. thank you thank you! GOD bless YOU! you are awesome! you rock!

  • it was a great poem… the power to do greatness that will glorify the Lord above… :)

    have a great day!

  • Great poem!

Yeah, I have memories from high school musical, too, so I know what you’re talking about. And….I have made photo albums for the boys since they were born, so I’m all set. All I have to do with these is take the memory card to Wal-Mart, get the pics made, write on the backs and add them to their albums. :)

    Have a blessed evening!

  • I have some friends (their playing on my site) Sixty Second Track that wrote a song called “To the powers that be”.  It’s one of my favorites.

    to deeds of goodness

    to deeds of shame…

    *sigh*

    holy spirit overcome!

  • Poem, yes, but more to the point a good prayer, too! I like this on both levels. Well, now you win the prize as the quickest to comment on asomething I’ve posted. The fastest ever is Nicodemus42, who more than once has commented before I’ve finished editing a piece, the first draft of which I’d put up…funny.

  • Thanks for your very nice comment :)

  • YOUR POEM GOES GREAT WITH MY POST….   ;o)

  • Well done, Mrs. Louden!

  • I agree with Jim, this is both poetry and prayer. Lovely.

  • Wonderful Poem there sister!!! Keep it going!!! i enjoy reading your messages/posts too! THanks for commenting on my site too!

  • Nice, Gerrie! I like the repetition and variation. It’s great to feel the Holy Spirit flowing through our lives, isn’t it? A touch of eternity in the everyday.

  • Thanks for this: [I've been thinking lately about "surrender" and what it really means. Maybe some of it is to not try and "do" anything but stay close to the Lord and let Him do it?]

IT lets me know I wasn’t just banging my head against a wall.

  • Be Well…praying for health and His presence.

    Jim

  • hello there, how are you? I am fine. I am glad that you are a christian too. Because now i have people to talk to without them making fun of me for doing the right thing and that is believing in Jesus Christ.   Well god bless you
